ethylenediamine functionalized nanoporous silica type lus-1 for highly sensitive analysis of pb2+ , cd2+ and zn2+ in various samples
Authors
abstract
in this work, a novel method is described for the preconcentration of pb2+, cd2+ and zn2+ ions in environmental samples using uniform silanized mesopor (lus-1) functionalized by ethylenediamine groups as a new extractant. the determination of ions is done by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (icp-oes). the extraction time and efficiency, ph and amount of adsorbent, minimum amount of stripping acid and break-through volume were investigated. the method’s enrichment factor is100 and detection limit is 0.45, 0.05 and 0.03 ng ml-1 for pb2+, cd2+ and zn2+ respectively. the maximum capacity of the one mg of functionalized lus-1was found to be 150.0 (±2.0) µg and 93.0 (±1.7) µg and 125.0 (±1.2) µg of pb2+, cd2+ and zn2+ respectively. the method was applied successfully for the preconcentration and determination of trace amounts of pb2+, cd2+ and zn2+ in water and food samples.

full textNanoporous Xerogel for Adsorption of Pb2+ and Cd2+
Classical xerogels are robust, inexpensive and nontoxic materials with low-ordered nanoporous structures. In water streams where the pH is higher than the Point of Zero Charge, the surface of classical xerogels such as tetraethoxy orthosilan (TEOS) xerogel is negatively charged. It was assumed that a xerogel can work as a strong adsorbent for metal ions without further modification. Therefore, ...
full textImprovement in Immobilization of Bread Yeasts by Sol-gel Method Combined with Functionalized Nanoporous Silica (LUS-1)
In this work, the effect of immobilization of bread yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) by sol-gel technique combined with functionalized nanoporous silica was investigated in different weight ratios of silica containing materials (TMOS: LUS-1). The activities of immobilized yeast in days after immobilization were examined. The results showed immobilization maintain the yeast life for a longer tim...
full textAmino Functionalized Silica Coated Fe3O4 Magnetic Nanoparticles as a Novel Adsorbent for Removal of Pb2+ and Cd2+
The present study synthesizes a novel adsorbent by coating Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles with amino functionalized mesoporous silica. The FTIR spectrums indicate that silica has been successfully coated on the surface of Fe3O4 and 3-aminopropyl tri methoxysilane compound have been grafted to the surface of silica-coated Fe3O4. The XRD analysis shows the presence of magnetite phase with cubic spi...
